Cubs Decline Arbitration on a LIST of Players….
The headlines say it all at cubs.com toady. Read the article for yourself HERE – but the list encludes: Kevin Gregg, Rich Harden, Chad Fox and Reed Johnson. I really, really, really hope the Cubs find a way to keep Reed Johnson with the ball club. He battled injuries for much of the 2009 season but let’s be honest; who didn’t? Reed is a throwback to how the game was meant to be played: hard, fast and 110% effort. I’d love to think that he could be an every-third-day outfielder and a clutch pinch runner/hitter in situational games. On the extreme opposite: godspeed Kevin Gregg, good luck in AA next year. That’s the only level where a straight fastball in the 9th inning carries any weight.
